The other day I was reading Mickey Morans Elvis page. One of the "Proof" Elvis faked his death items is that Elvis never collected on a Insurance Policy with Lloyds of London. I got to thinking on this and I have noticed that whenever this is said there is never any quotes or sources as to how they know this. Where this info came from is any bodies guess. Well I can tell you where it did NOT come from. Lloyds of London. Also I was told (by I think if I remember right) EPE in a question to them on this, that this policy was a liabilty policy for covering lossess to promoters etc. should Elvis fail to make a tour. It seems that this is a practice in the business. So why was it not cashed if in fact it wasn't or to some extent. There were very little to no losses incurred accross the board. In fact one story has it $600,000 dollars in ticket sales were not reimbursed because the holders refused to give them up. So here is how I know Lloyds did Not reveal anything about this policy. The only thing removed from this email is Mr. Knights telephone number and address. Thank you for your request to the Lloyd's insurance market. Unfortunately we do not comment to third parties regarding policicies that may have been underwritten on behalf of certain individuals/companies. Regards Howard Knight Chief Information Officer Lloyd's Business Intelligence Centre There are two theories. One is that the Lloyd's of London policy never existed. Second, Lloyd's of London being the old and presitgious firm that it is, will conduct the most thorough of investigations into any claims that are suspicious (42 year old man dying of natural causes might be suspicious), and for that reason, the claim was never submitted. No one has ever offered proof that there was indeed a policy.

Your right . I looked at the Lloyds response to my email and they don't really acknowledge that he had one with them they more or less just stated policy regarding info. But it still tells us that nobody else got anything from them. So I guess it comes down to what source the uncashed policy story came from or as you say was there even a policy. Thanks for pointing that out.

They wouldn't acknowledge it one way or another, so you are right, they just stated their policy. It's an urban legend like the story about the guy looking like Elvis buying a ticket to Buenos Aires on the night of 8/16/77. First of all, in 77 you couldn't even buy a ticket from the Memphis airport direct to Argentina. Secondly, don't you think at least ONE person would have noticed that they sat on a plane next to the most famous man in the world who had just been announced as dead to the worldwide press?

I totally agree. I never bought into that story to start with. If he had faked his death his escape would have been much different and I don't think he would have left the country at least immediately. I remember one story that he hid out in a cabin up in the Smokey Mtns for awhile after. That would make more sense to me. Its close yet remote. Besides look at the last photo pic. How much time would have to be spent in preparing disguise from last time he was seen and leaving? I don't think he would have gone to airport or anywhere looking like Elvis with sunglasses and a wig on. It would have been more elaborate to some extent.

No need for disguise at all, just a short drive from Graceland to any number of small airports that could provide a small private jet or chopper, surely wouldn't need the International Airport as a way to travel.
